#### Please describe your issue:
in some games there is screen tearing, which is a bit annoying, I tried to fix it with xorg.conf but it doesn't work
TomTravis commented 2 years ago

gnome uses chromium heavy it does not work so well with focal try kde and mate or xfce4

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago

@TomTravis , I want to install mate, but I don't know how

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

sudo apt install mate (cli) from a xterm in the gnome session

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago

@TomTravis I already installed it, I start it? how?

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

Screenshot at 2022-10-25 12-38-10 nano .xinitrc add pulseaudio --start exec mate-session

save to local account then xinit it will start

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

i use it also

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago

epic , Thanks!

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago

but is there a way to start mate like this: sudo startmate

is it annoying to run start-chroot | xinit

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

nope unless you make one i just xinit via cli no sudo needed

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

do some reading

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

i do not use start-chroot never have sudo enter-chroot -c /media... xinit

let us know what happens with mate ? I'm starting to use KDE development tools work very well with bullseye, Focal runs well also

The new gnu text editor will not install on Bullseye it want the new kernel and OS bookworm

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago

@TomTravis I have been testing mate and it has many problems with vulkan, when playing dolphin emu it said: "failed to create vulkan device", I managed to fix it but is buggy

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago

to install it i use: sudo crouton -n mate -t core,xorg,x11,audio -r focal

(it was just that)

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

i do not play games maybe a light weigh WM will be the best for games https://ice-wm.org/

or build it https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/building-dolphin-linux/

TomTravis commented 2 years ago

mate is for ease of use not gaming

elkawai621 commented 2 years ago
