add fix for gnome 44 #15

This allows the extension to work on gnome 44.

Nice work.

Since Gnome itself has a useful implementation for three-finger gestures nowadays, I don't actually use or develop the extension anymore. But since you seem to be using and developing it, I wouldn't mind if you upload your own fork to extensions.gnome.org. I would then link to your fork in the description. You could then also remove the legacy code for Gnome < 40.

If you don't want to do that, I'll be happy to merge and upload your work.
