2/14 Meeting with Professor

Starting Out

• Start with normal distribution of riders through the station
• Simulate generalities at the beginning

Using the Data

• Use our data to calibrate the distributions we use in the simulation

Potential Directions

• Later, could look at individual trains -- What is the number of riders you’d get on the 6pm train?
• Optimize for the number of cars? Could figure out the costs involved vs ticket prices
• How many people arrive at the station at a given time?

Other Tips

• Look for how other people have simulated it

2/15 Group Meeting

• Distributed work
• Dhruv will program initial simple simulator
• Daniel will perform exploratory data analysis on data set
• Decided we’d use Github to share work and updates

2/24 Group Meeting

• Dhruv to add passengers entering and exiting the train to the simulation, as well as extend function from base MonteCarlo class
• Daniel to upload exploratory analysis and write up milestone
