Why do I get (three) stack trace(s) when Docker for Mac isn't running? #2158

Maybe this is a silly question. When I try to run a docker-compose command, and Docker for Mac isn't running, I get this output:

$ docker-compose run ghost

Could this not be handled gracefully? Is it not easy to detect if the engine is running vs some other issue occured?
