After upgrading to 1.10, I started docker and the daemon was stuck in "starting" status. Thinking that something was wrong, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find information about this bug, and writing a support request in Docker forum.
Apparently, docker migrator was running behind the scenes, requiring quite some time to migrate all my containers.
It would be great if you would display a message informing the user about the operations taking place and that this may require significant amount of time to complete. And include a link to the documentation that explains how to do the migration before upgrading to minimise downtime.
