Please note the following 7 warnings:

1 : The check: is the credentials store configured correctly?
Produced the following warning: Error: password store is empty. Try "pass init".

The Credential Store is not set up correctly.

See https://docs.docker.com/desktop/get-started/#credentials-management-for-linux-users

2 : The check: is the application running?
Produced the following warning: Docker is not running

Is the Docker Desktop application running?

3 : The check: can a VM be started?
Produced the following warning: vm has not started: vm has not started

The Docker engine runs inside a Linux VM. Therefore we must be able to start Virtual Machines.

4 : The check: is the LinuxKit VM running?
Produced the following warning: prereq failed: is the application running?

The Docker engine runs inside a Linux VM. Therefore the VM must be running.

5 : The check: is the Docker engine running?
Produced the following warning: prereq failed: is the LinuxKit VM running?

The Docker engine manages all containers and images on the host. Check the dockerd.log to see why it failed to start.

6 : The check: does the Docker API work?
Produced the following warning: prereq failed: is the Docker engine running?

If the Docker API is not available from the host then Docker Desktop will not work correctly.

7 : The check: do Docker networks overlap with host IPs?
Produced the following warning: prereq failed: does the Docker API work?

If the subnet used by a Docker network overlaps with an IP used by the host, then containers
won't be able to contact the overlapping IP addresses.

Try configuring the IP address range used by networks: in your docker-compose.yml.
See https://docs.docker.com/compose/compose-file/compose-file-v2/#ipv4_address-ipv6_address

Please investigate the following 3 issues:

1 : The test: is Context set to a Docker Desktop context?
Failed with: CLI context is set to docker-ce engine

If the Docker Context is set to 'default', docker CLI is not addressing Docker Desktop engine.

2 : The test: is the application running?
Failed with: Docker is not running

Is the Docker Desktop application running?

3 : The test: can a VM be started?
Failed with: vm has not started: vm has not started

The Docker engine runs inside a Linux VM. Therefore we must be able to start Virtual Machines.

Hi @babarlhr , Have you run sudo sysctl -w kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns=0 as stated in the prerequisites for Ubuntu 24.04?

andress20 commented 2 months ago

Same issue here when upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04

sudo sysctl -w kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns=0 is not solving it.

installation and the cli commands works well but Docker-Desktop is not even open at all

kloudmob commented 2 months ago

Hi, Docker noob here, Docker desktop gets launched on my machine but the containers that are getting created are not showing in Docker desktop app that should show when i use sudo docker compose up --build command. Hope to see a fix soon.
