Search for images on DockerHub behaves unpredictably #6744

Expected behavior

I should be able to find an image when I paste the full name

Actual behavior

The image only appears if a subset of the name is provided

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Open global search and paste yavorgeorgiev896/my-first-pyth
  2. Notice a community image appears named yavorgeorgiev896/my-first-python-website
  3. Repeat but now add an extra character to the search like yavorgeorgiev896/my-first-pytho
  4. Notice the image is no longer found

Same can be replicated on https://hub.docker.com search box as well

I'm having issues with search on Mac too - the search only seems to want to find images or containers that I have downloaded. I expect to be able to search:
