Description

 Hi,

I'm hoping that there will soon be another release of Docker for Windows to address the following issue as I've seen quite a few bug reports around 4.32.0.

I'm experiencing an issue whereby upon starting Docker Desktop, An error comes up with the following:

Cannot start Docker Compose application. Reason: compose [start] exit status 1. Cannot connect to the Docker daemon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock. Is the docker daemon running?

I experienced this yesterday, and today. I was not experiencing this some 2 weeks ago and have rarely opened Docker since.

I'm running WSL, and have also tried steps to delete the .docker directory from my root machine's C drive, still no luck.

I've now been without a development environment for at least a few days since updating now.

Reproduce

  1. Just simply opening Docker Desktop and starting any container

Expected behavior

Should be able to start a container without issue

Additional Info

Here's my WSL output:

WSL version: 2.2.4.0
Kernel version: 5.15.153.1-2
WSLg version: 1.0.61
MSRDC version: 1.2.5326
Direct3D version: 1.611.1-81528511
DXCore version: 10.0.26091.1-240325-1447.ge-release
Windows version: 10.0.19045.4651

Which, worth noting about WSL, I was previously on a slightly older version which also experienced the same problem with Docker, so decided to update to the above.

@lorenrh How are we getting on with a fix?

Just asking as it's been a few days since any update on this, and at least a week without a development environment for me.

sts-ryan-holton commented 3 months ago

Just updating, I've updated to 4.33.1, still getting this error.

nehalkpatel commented 3 months ago

If you're running in Windows, make sure Settings->Resources->WSL integration has "Enable integration with my default WSL distro" checked in Docker Desktop. image

sts-ryan-holton commented 3 months ago

That's enabled @nehalkpatel, though error persists
