NavBot incompatible with Windows7? #45

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I wanted to get in early with this one, as it seems a little strange that
NavBot will work on Vista, but not on Windows7.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install NavBot on Windows7.
2. Ensure NavBot is not already running in systray.
3. Execute NavBot.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output: NavBot starts up successfully.
Observed output: NavBot warning message "Is another copy of NavBot already
running?..."; NavBot will not initialise.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
APP: NavBot rev 1 - APOCRYPHA - Uploaded March 21.
OS: Windows 7 Beta, Build 7000.

Please provide any additional information below.
As a workaround, I have modified the NavBot binary, and replaced all
hardcoded "http://localhost:9999" with a custom address. This allows me to
run NavBot on another machine running WindowsXP.

Please disregard this issue as redundant.
Turned out to be a permissions problem in Windows Vista/7.
Cheers to joetrader with the solution in Issue 15:
