That's no bug on your end. There is an attempt made to get ahold of the opened tab and close it post-download, but that doesn't work in all file delivery cases. I'll have a look at the relevant part of the code, as I too have the impression it had worked better in the past, but that might also just mean that Patreon now stronger prefers to deliver files in an inconvenient to handle way.
Maybe it's just a weirdness of my Firefox (v68), but the tabs of attached files that were downloaded stay around.
They have urls in this pattern, https://www.patreon.com/file?h=*&i=* and if I could run Tampermonkey on those, I'd have already fixed the problem myself, but sadly it's not allowed to run there -_-
Could the extension be adapted to monitor the download tabs and close them after their status is "done" instead of "loading circle"?
