Fatal error Missing file #4303

Since this morning dxvk stopped working for Borderlands 2 and TPS. Played with it flawless the last weeks. Now the game doesn‘t even launch and i get a fatal error popup with „missing file“ and something like „debug code 0==0“. Can‘t describe it accurately because i‘m not at my pc right now. As soon as i delete the dxvk files the game starts. Reinstalling the games doesn‘t help.

win11 Rtx4090 Current release driver Tried Dxvk version 2.3 , 2.4 and 2.4.1

That does not sound like a DXVK problem at all. It sounds like the game broke in general regardless of DXVK.

Attach dxvk log

Win11, rtx4080laptop, steam version Everything works, game runs smooth, no crash, no stutter

suggesting verify game file integrity first.

Bild_2024-09-29_102130435 Borderlands2_d3d9.log Verfied game files right now, same error for both BL2 and TPS. Logfile seems to be empty. what is this?

No idea tbh

Seems introduced by some overlay software. Uninstall Geforce Experience (and NVIDIA app), uninstall RTSS, disable steam overlay, and try again.

@c00r5F Check the health of your hdd/ssd/nvme storages, just to make sure they're not the problem.

And in what case should be this the problem, when i never changed anything from one day to another? The game worked fine with dxvk for months.

Hard drive is fine, any other game is working fine and how can it be the hard drive, if the games work fine without dxvk, but natively with dx9 it‘s running as it‘s supposed to be.

Don‘t take anything peronal here, but i‘m confused how that could be with only the implementation of dxvk in those games

Some overlay softwares contain self-update feature and may update in the background without notification. You haven't seen any change, but the environment does changed due to these softwares. For example, Google never asks you to approve update of Chrome, but you should be using latest Chrome now. Double check whether you have installed these softwares:

If installed, try uninstall them all and test again. Although in most cases these software should work fine, but in some rare conditions there are conflicts.

disabling nvidia overlay didn't help. it's the only overlay i'm running.

Then i have no idea. Can you have another clean installation copy of Windows? There may be some environment conflict for your current installation.
