flat theme update #4

A major update to the initial theme. Mostly fixes styling errors and expands the color variables to enable more easily customization of the the theme.

Icons still need to be addressed. The editor icons are missing. It's my next task when I can get to it.

@dylans I've been working with the icons. Will hopefully have a PR for that soon.
