Unable to pair Knock/FingerKey/MacID using CAT 2.0.0 and BrcmPatchRAM (but handoff/continuity works) #135

On iMac Early 2009 using an Asus BT 400 dongle. Was surprised to get continuity working with just a dongle on this machine as it was. However even though BLE is now operating on this machine, no apps appear to be able to see/pair over it from my iPhone 5s.

CAT installed with no errors. Tried BrcmPatchRAM 1.2 as per issue #122 and is installed correctly (firmware version up to c5563).

Hi, thanks for reporting this. It is a known issue (similar to #129), no workarounds have been identified so far. My technical guess: this is possibly related to encryption and/or OS X identity services, which are also causing problems with Instant Hotspot when using USB BT4.0 dongles. This does not happen on 2011 MBAs / Mac minis and when using Continuity-compatible AirPort Extreme hardware, as far as I know.

so, any clue to solve this?

I think it's something related to the kext patch. i've tried to uninstall CAT and restore the kext backup, but knock to unlock and other apps that uses the BT 4.0 dongle before, no longer works. now, I can't use knock anymore, i've reinstalled CAT, at last I'm glad to be able to enjoy continuity features.
