I'm currently on a mid-2011 MacBook Air on the Dev Preview of 10.12 and CAT is amazing! AirDrop and Continuity is perfect just like before. Another Apple Watch user here, would be happy to help test out auto login support when its ready. Otherwise yep, MBP early 2011 with a replaced wifi/bluetooth card works great, airdrop and handoff.

Heads up, no auto unlock in the current build of macOS. It's probably likely to start working properly once Apple adds in auto unlock in the coming DPs for Sierra.

Having issues with my usb dongle, running on a MBP 2010 15", the tool runs and installs, it says Continuity is on, but Handoff/Continuity Clipboard don't work. When I run a system diagnostic, it says: "Verifying BT4 dongles compatibility... OK. Compatibility with BT4 USB dongles is not enabled, this tool can fix this if a dongle is plugged in"

This is on the latest beta.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the dongle is the IOGear dongle by Logitech.

Edit 2: I'm taking a look at the install log and I see a lot of "Read-only file system" errors when it's backing up the kexts, resulting I a "NOT OK. IOBluetoothFamily.kext backup failed. IO80211Family.kext backup failed."

Edit 3: Noticed there was a new beta up, so downloaded, uninstalled, and reran the install- handoff from my computer to my phone works!!! But unfortunately not the other way around, and it seems as though the copying and pasting features aren't there either. I also am getting constant and random pair notifications on my laptop from my phone and even surprisingly my Apple TV. 0.o

Edit 4: No more random pair notifications, interesting observation- iPhone to Mac works right when I log into my Mac after a reboot, but then stops working.

Handoff stability has been really flaky for me too. It randomly starts and stops to work again. I'm currently attributing that to the fact that sierra is still in early beta and they made some changes to handoff which might made it less reliable for now. I will definitely keep an eye on that though.

Just installed the new developer preview, Auto Unlock doesn't appear to be working, apples documentation says it will only work on 2013 and above however handoff does appear to be enabled in some 2012 MacBooks (supported by apple) so this leads me to believe they may have added a secondary check for a 2013 model?

Otherwise latest DP everything else appears to be working

EDIT: Just wanted to add on to say I did also swap from Two-Step Authentication to Two-Factor Authentication so its not that.

I have a MacBookPro8,1 (Early 2011 13" - MC700LL/A).

I've just updated to Sierra b2, watchOS 3 b2, iOS 10 b2, CAT v2.3 and enabled 2 Factor Auth:

• AirDrop OK
• Handoff not working (working on El Capitain)
• Unlock with Apple Watch not working (the option that you can find on the attached screen is not available)

Updated to Beta 2 on all my devices too today, I installed the latest beta of CAT and for me the unlock with Apple Watch option appears and activates successfully;

Although it doesn't continue to log in by itself-- But it does seem to try for a few seconds.

I activated the two factor authentication, and tired to toggle the settings on and off, restart my Mac and watch but to no avail.

Other than that, AirDrop and Continuity (including Continuity Clipboard in both directions) work.

According to what I've heard at WWDC and my tests with a 2014 MacBook, the Auto Unlock feature is very time-sensitive and measures the time the signal takes to get from the Mac to the Watch and back again. Maybe this measurement does not work properly or the signal takes too long for you?

Interestingly Just following up with my previous comment. By completely removing CAT, rebooting and installing it again the option for Apple Watch unlock has now appeared in my Security pane. However, I have the same issue as above it just appears to say "unlocking with Apple Watch" then stops and asks for my password after several seconds. However this could equally be an apple bug possibly?

Hmm, I do have to lean towards this too as CAT is actually doing its job as far as what it says it does, Continuity is there and so is Auto Unlock now.

As I initially thought, the tool most likely doesn't need any changes thus far as it appears to be working in activating it.

Beta 3 didnt help. Did repair my iphone too, but nothing. I didnt get Handoff until I pasted my old copy of CloudPairD from Yosemite. Now handoff works, airdrop works, but watch unlock is no go

-Beta 3 Update- Updated my Mac to DP3 and as usual needed a reinstall of CAT, it successfully did but noticed I that Apple Watch Unlock became unavailable. So decided to uninstall and reinstall CAT (Although completely overlooking that system integrity was still enabled) nonetheless uninstallation completed but then the bluetooth setting in the menu bar became "Bluetooth Not Available",

I tried to manually delete the bluetooth plist file in \Library\Preferences thinking it may have been just corrupted. Also tried to reset PRAM and SMC. Even as far as opening my MacBook Air and disconnecting the battery for about 5min while pressing the power button but still no avail. Also "No Information Found" in system report.

Going to try reinstalling Sierra from Recovery HD but before that wanted to ask you guys first for any thoughts to try before going ahead. Any thoughts? Thanks.

After trying for so long, I figured out the why Unlock with Apple Watch worked for some, but not for others (especially MacBook Pro 2010-2011 AirPort card replacements). It turns out Unlock with Apple Watch requires Wi-Fi 802.11ac capability, in addition to Bluetooth, which is why Apple locked it at Mid-2013 and newer Macs (which is when they started introducing Wi-Fi AC cards). That's why people using dongles (with possibly 802.11ac) got it working without any workaround.

Well, from what I've read, people with Early 2013 (and the Mid-2012) Retina MacBook Pro users have had successes in getting Unlock with Apple Watch after replacing their AirPort card with newer (AC-enabled) ones.

Presumably this will cut out any chance of support via AirPort card to anything older then 2012? Unless there is some magical way of fitting a 2013 card in a pre2012 machine but there would be a significant mobo change where the newer airports sit. Ultimately if this ends in a tough luck situation the alternative for pre2012 is upgrade or use Knock / macID although less slick then a native implementation it works without AC wifi cards

@justineramos I've got the same mid-2011 MBA and I can't get HandOff to work even with just typing a message in Messages.app. Is it still working for you? I'm on the Sierra GM and the iOS 10 GM on an iPhone 6S.

I have yet to install Sierra GM. Just installed 10GM. But from experience, have you tried to reinstall CAT and disabled system integrity? That often times is the case on why it won't work properly.

@justineramos Yes. I disabled SIP, ran the tool, rebooted Mac, logged out and back in on iCloud on Mac, rebooted. No luck with app Handoff. I am using the master branch of CAT, are you using the beta branch?

I do see the 'Calls from iPhone' option enabled in FaceTime.app on macOS and I have enabled Text Message Forwarding to my Mac on iOS 10.

So you're still on ElCap on your mid-2011? Does Handoff work still properly with iOS 10 GM?

All the visual cues are there, but the app handoff functionality just isn't working.

I may just take the nuclear option and do a fresh install of Sierra next week to see if that clears it up.

@AirDark - regarding the QuickerTek card - I have their mCard2 in my 2008 MBP 17" 4,1 (should have ordered the mCard3 however - as there's a 3rd unused Antennae in my MBP. I have the unlocking feature working (used CAT). I do have an issue that my settings don't seem to persist a reboot. (seems fine, then reboot, nope, BLE support dropped again), do a sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel then sudo kextcache -system-caches then reboot and my BLE is fine again (and unlocking works).

Per support @ QuickerTek, this card is actually using the BroadCom 4360 chipset for both BLE4.0 as well as 802.11AC.

I'm not go thought the PublicBeta builds, straight upgrade from an all working 10.11.6 to 10.12 GM, all gone, nothing works anymore.

and yes we tried reinstall CAT, enable/disable SIP kext dev mode, e.g./ So don't ask us to try this or that, the tool DOES NOT WORK ON 10.12 GM right now. may be an old version of cloudpaird sharingd or bluetoothd and some other new daemons (that's include the beta branch) from public beta release will do the trick...

What I did is:

Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Toggle Off > Toggle On > Stuff works

NB: Before trying this I did do a Restore > Restore from Backup to 10.0.1. I don't know if this helped with anything. I did not touch anything on the macOS side.

@SietZz11 I believe 2.4 beta version is better for sierra, and after CAT do the trick, don't forget to re-login with ur icloud, if that still not working, try turn on and off icloud drive as we mentioned above.
