Open JimmyPastel opened 8 years ago

JimmyPastel commented 8 years ago

Have you tried these steps?

Is there already an open topic for this issue?

Please include the following information.

Your Issue: Hi, I`ve been using cat without problem in all betas and GM of macOS Sierra with all functions, but in the final release I don't find a way to make it works. only works Airdrop.

I've made a clean installation of macOS, disable SIP, and run CAT, Cat says that everything its ok, but I can't made handoff, continuity etc... work. I try to overwrite cloudpair but nothing.

the system shows continuity/handoff and unlock with Apple Watch, but no way to make it works.

Any ideas?

For me also only AirDrop working with replaced care in MacBook Pro Late 2011...

cmonard commented 8 years ago

For me nothing work on final release. handsoff appear in settings, is checked, but nothing show up. Tried to disconnect and reconnect icloud account. check and unchek it. reboot the mac. MacBookPro 8,2 card replaced. Everything showing OK in CAT

SietZz11 commented 8 years ago

Got mine working now, run beta instead of master version and put on both your devices iCloud Drive on and off (note this is different than logging in and out on iCloud server)

SietZz11 commented 8 years ago

*off and on

rmpel commented 8 years ago

Just wanted to report Macbook Pro 17" late '11, replaced the board internally, SIP disabled, macOS Sierra, works 100% first try.

SietZz11 commented 8 years ago

@kubatlad , so, disabling SIP might solve your problem right?

awests commented 8 years ago

@SietZz11 Tried the beta branch, still no luck with auto unlock, other continuity features work fine.

SietZz11 commented 8 years ago

@awests auto-unlock doesn't work for me as well.. Problem seems to be the wifi bandwith, which requires Wifi 802.11ac capability. The AirPort card that I use (and probably most of the people here, since it's the recommended CAX card for use of CAT) doesn't support this. See this thread for more information: https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/issues/307

awests commented 8 years ago

@SietZz11 Ah that thread certainly does help out. That is a shame, not going to take up one of my USB ports with a dongle.

JimmyPastel commented 8 years ago

I,m not sure if my card its compatible.

but I've been using in OS X betas and gm the auto unlock function without problem, but at final no way.

so I guest that it would work with an update of the tool?

these is my card information, sin titulo

nextjet commented 8 years ago

Which card are you guys using for compatibilty?

nextjet commented 8 years ago

@rmpel Which card did you replace the stock one in your Mac Pro 17 Late 2011? Are you using the final version of Sierra or still Beta?

rmpel commented 8 years ago

( http://bit.ly/1rF9ge7 ) I'm using the BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX which is Bluetooth 4.0 LE, WiFi N. ( I'm trying to get my hands on one of these: http://www.quickertek.com/products/Ucard.html which supposedly support BT 4.0 LE and WiFi AC )

I'm running macOS Sierra from the App store, the public release.

SIP is disabled of course, otherwise this would never work.

I'm using the latest Beta branch of CAT ( https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/tree/beta )

I don't have an Apple watch, nor do my co-workers, so I cannot test that feature.

Handoff and Instant Hotspot are fully functional.

kpcsrc commented 8 years ago

I have Continuity features working on my upgraded (BT/WIFI card) 2011 iMac on Sierra, including the new copy/paste. I don't have a Watch so can't touch on that. I ended up loading Sierra on two different drives to test and play with Continuity Activation Tool, and I was able to get Continuity to work with Sierra using both Beta and Master versions.

I tried different things within the tools including running (2) System Diagnostic, which would tell me that everything was ok and Continuity was already activated. But if I then ran (1) Activate Continuity, it would tell me that it was already active but that it was making changes to correct something... I forget exactly what it said. It would then restart my iMac.

But anyway, Continuity still wouldn't work, so I'd try logging out and in iCloud on my iMac and my iPhone, but still no change.

The thing that seemed to trigger it to start working on this machine, for both Beta and Master, was to make a phone call to my iPhone from a different phone. The call would pop up on my iMac and I'd answer it on my iMac. Then, the other Continuity features all seemed to start working. They continue to work after a re-start, too. So far...

nextjet commented 8 years ago

@rmpel Spoke with Quickertek this afternoon and the reason why the card is sold out is because they are preparing a new version.I am expecting a call back from a product manager to see if the new build will support the features discussed in this thread. In which case i will share with the group.

cmonard commented 8 years ago

disable SIP Remove the patch and reinstall correct file from backup. log out from icloud reboot install patch with last version of CAT reboot reenable SIP log in again

Got it working

Universal clipboard not working, but everything else, yes

maciboy commented 8 years ago

Is there any chance to see if universal clipboard is working/ configured correctly other than copy some text on iOS and try to paste it in macOS? Since this try&error doesn’t work for me… Also opening the clipboard window (Finder->Edit->Show Clipboard) doesn’t reflect any changes, while sending text between iPad and iPhone…

However, the rest is working great! Got Handoff and AirDrop working on first try after updating my MBP 2010 15“ with Gymle Dongle to Sierra.

Edit: Mmh funny! Universal clipboard and Handoff both just working in one direction: from Mac to iOS devices :( iPad and iPhone both show the icon for the currently open Mac-app, also the past what was just copied on the Mac. The mac seems to not receive any stuff, neither open iOS-apps nor stuff in iOS-clipboard!

nextjet commented 8 years ago

@cmonard what do you mean "everything else"? does that include apple watch unlock? as well?

JimmyPastel commented 8 years ago

I tried beta, and tried log in/out iCloud Drive, and call my iPhone from another phone and I don't get it work, two days ago handoff and continuity begin works from my ipad/Mac but between my two iphone/Mac no way to make it work(neither apple watch)

the system report in cat tell that everything its ok but some things that can be fixed by the tool, but when I run the tool, only says that everything its ok, and the system diagnosis doesn't change. the same as here #346

people who have it mostly working, are you using the cluoudpair file? and if you are, can you share it?

*edit, I try to make like @cmonard said and nothing, and now not ipad/mac working.

If someone can explain like for "kids" all the steps since you install macOS from 0, to get this tool working I will be very apreciatted, because im missing something and can't make it works

mobile4 commented 8 years ago

Macbook 13' 2010 mid. Gmyle dongle. HDD has been replaced to SSD. Worked well with the latest Yosemite. El Capitan - CAT installed without errors but kernel panic on reboot. Tried both version of CAT from Master and Beta branches. Sierra - Some errors during installation of CAT. Something related to permissions and kext back up. Hangs on reboot.

Probably problem related to SSD? Everybody who has the same problem. Do you use SSD instead of HDD? As I wrote above MBP hangs on reboot. Please make detailed instruction on how to replace wifi and bluetooth kext back to original. It is very boring to reinstall OS for the next experiment.

frizby66 commented 8 years ago

Have exactly the same issue with permissions and have an SSD. CAT works as expected and handoff etc. works fine but get the permission error when apply CAT.

Reboots fine with no issues.

mrexer commented 8 years ago

i'm having the same issue: Mac Pro 4,1 (firmware upgraded to 5,1 from other thread on macrumors) then bought this card on ebay.

Wifi AC & bluetooth 4 recognised. CAT installed and SIP disabled, signed out iCloud and signed in again. Only Air Drop works, no apple watch unlock, not continuity and not universal clipboard.

Tried to uninstall CAT 2.0, reinstalled, rerun the steps. But no luck.

JimmyPastel commented 8 years ago

I finally have it working, all features, include copy/paste and Apple Watch unlock.

I made a clean install of macOS, then configure Mac without login in iCloud. Then a disable SIP, and install CAT 2.4, login in iCloud on the Mac . Set on handoff in all devices ( I put it off before log in the Mac) Restart all my idevices and all working, my iPad didn't appear in handoff so I make a FaceTime audio call and set off/on iCloud Drive and now its working also.

I dont know why this time was so hard to make it works, and in the diagnostic tool still show some thing that can be fixed by the tool.

maciboy commented 8 years ago

I’m using a MBP 2010 15“ and replaced the HDD more than a year ago with a SSD. Had no issues with CAT since then, so imho a drive-exchange doesn’t make any difference!

nextjet commented 8 years ago

@JimmyPastel What watch os and iPhone os are you using?

JimmyPastel commented 8 years ago

@nextjet iPhone 6s plus iOS 10.0.1, watchOS 3, and iPhone SE same iOS version

nextjet commented 8 years ago

And what vendor's wireless card did you finally replace the stock one with?

JimmyPastel commented 8 years ago

i have this one "IMAC 2009, IMAC 2010 AND IMAC 2011 - APPLE BROADCOM BCM94360CD - 802.11 A/B/G/N/AC + BLUETOOTH 4.0" from www.osxwifi.com

nextjet commented 8 years ago

Thank you so much.I have a macbook pro 15 in late 2011 will be looking into a card from the vendor you mentioned. So glad i might be able to get some more millage from you older macbook pro.!

mrexer commented 8 years ago

Guys, I just want you to know that I solved the problem.

Before this, Airdrop fully functionally worked.

So I decided to make a fresh install of Sierra. This time installed w/o signing in iCloud. Disabled SIP. Then rebooted and installed CAT. Rebooted and... everything works like a charm!

Airdrop, Continuity, Hand Off, even Apple Watch unlock!

For everybody have the same problem, I suggest to try this.

nextjet commented 8 years ago

@mrexer what is your configuration and what wifi/bluetooth card are you using? thank you

bennydente commented 8 years ago

Hi, In my scenario, CAT working fine and system diagnostic say YES on all needed BT features. But no trace of continuity working until I disconnect my macbook pro from iCloud and log-in again. no reboot needed. I hope these can halp and..... waiting for Apple Watch Unlock feature hack!!! bye!.

fishredleung commented 8 years ago

Work when i logged out my iCloud account from my mac and logged back in!

shaka80 commented 8 years ago

Hello guys, hope someone can help me.

I have a MBP 15" 2.53Ghz mid 2009 with SSD and RAM upgrade. I bought a BT GMYLE dongle and the CAT tool doesn't work properly. I would like to know if I can upgrade the internal bt/wifi card. Just to let you know that in my case the card is under the clutch cover and Sierra is installed and working fine with the dosdude1 tool.

Thank you :)

mrexer commented 8 years ago

@nextjet I'm using this card on a MacPro 4,1 > upgraded firmware 5,1.

nextjet commented 8 years ago

Anyone have Apple Watch unlock working with a Macbook Pro 15in Late 2011 8,2 with either the stock wifi/bluetooth card or an upgrade and if so which one?

seargentpepper commented 8 years ago

Handoff stop working randomly, I'm not sure how to force it, do Airdrop but never show me the apps opened on my iPad in the Mac Dock.
