I have a 2011 iMac 27" an in about this mac it says i have a broadcom bluetooth chipset. When i run the CAT app it says i have an Atheros chipset ? I have ordered the asus bluetooth dongle and was hoping to get handoff to work when it arrived. Why is the app telling me i have a different bluetooth chip to what is listed on the hardware list of my machine and is it possible to still get it to work ? Im running Mac OS sierra 10.12.2 iMac 27' mid 2011 asus bluetooth dongle. #372

Hi, I have to same iMac. I also had and Broadcom Bluetooth chipset, but also had Atheros Wi-Fi chipset (which is wrong). You need iMac with Broadcom Wi-Fi chipset to get Continuity working only with USB dongle attached.

As you have Atheros Wi-Fi chipset, you only option is to go with new Airport extreme card you have to replace inside you iMac (as you can see here on the chart https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/wiki/Compatibility).

When you replace you card, you can use my instructions I posted here to get continutiy working. https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/issues/384
