10.12.4 using latest CAT beta

early 2011 mbp

GMYLE dongle

I've tried deleting all bluetooth related plists, signing out of iCloud on both devices, reinstalling CAT and rebooting at every stage.

Handover in safari works from mac to iphone but not vis versa Universal clipboard doesn't work either way Airdrop works Instant hotspot appears in top menu bar

When Handoff is only working one way, this is my procedure and it works every single time...

The generic solution for "handoff working from A to B but not B to A". (the A and B distinction is important)

  1. Switch off B
  2. Turn off bluetooth on A
  3. Turn on bluetooth on A
  4. Restart B

So for your case (from Mac to iPhone is working):

Broken Handoff from iPhone to Mac

  1. Turn off iPhone
  2. Turn off Bluetooth on Mac
  3. Turn on Bluetooth on Mac
  4. Turn on iPhone

I have the same issue. copying from the iPhone to the Mac (iPhone => Mac), it works 9/10 times; however, if I try to copy anything from the Mac to the iPhone (Mac => iPhone), it does not work, and one of two things happen:

1)App will do a long pause, then do nothing. 2)Offer the option to Paste but the paste is old data, not what was in the Clipboard to begin with.

I end up solving this by following steps to make it both copy and paste successfully.

My case: (iPhone => Mac) Okay (Mac => Iphone) Fail

1) Either your Macbook/Iphone to forget each other in bluetooth setting. (In my case, I choose to "Forget Mac" on my iPhone Bluetooth menu.)

2) After that, I go to my Mac Bluetooth Menu, connect to my iPhone. It takes time and will prompt you the pair code eventually. After pairing it, it should show "Connect to iPhone"on Mac Bluetooth menu.

3) I try to copy text from Mac, wait few second and paste on the iPhone. It works again... finally.

4) Try to copy text from iPhone, wait few second and paste on the Mac, works too.

5) I wonder the issue happen either one of your device has bluetooth pairing before and after IOS/MacOS update or even changing your Device name. It will fail on either way.

In my case, I pair to my Mac from iPhone before. And result "Copy and paste" from Mac > iPhone fail but iPhone to Mac without any problems.
