CAT works on High Sierra/NVidia but Blank Screen after HS/Nvdia updates #408

After a clean install of High Sierra with Nvidia webdriver, CAT was working fine. But updating to Supplemental version, causes the computer to display blank screen at start-up. Everything seems to get loaded fine. Nvidia driver is loaded because I can hear the GPU fans slowing down. Mouse's caret is visible and moving with the mouse. But the rest of the screen is black.

I did another clean install, updated to HS Supplemental, the latest NVdia driver, and then ran CAT. This solved the problem. Before this solution, I tried also on a working setup to deactivate Continuity before updating. It gave me that blank screen. Somehow, I noticed deactivate doesn't really work because CAT status still shows active no matter how many time I deactivated.

My problem seems very consistent. I'm pretty sure the solution is pretty easy for someone with the knowledge of what is being done by CAT behind the scene. I want to use CAT again but just don't want to go through the hassle of clean install on every OS and Nvidia driver update. It's a whole night of restoring of 1++TB of data on every clean install.

For now, my computer is working with the latest and greatest of HS and Nvdia driver. But no Continuity for now. I'm just afraid my update-happy finger will click on an update and the dread blank screen appears again.

Many thanks in advance for any response
