Everything was working fine right up until the next reboot. Do not have the option to turn Wifi "on" in the menu. System Preferences says "inactive" without the ability to activate. However, when I opened Maps, it asked that Wifi be turned on and when I said "ok" it turned on. The Wifi icon removed the "x" and went into scanning mode... however no SSIDs show up in the menu. Selecting an SSID from the System Preferences does nothing.
Continuity reports "OK" on everything.
mid-2012 Mac Pro with proper wireless card (BCM94360CD + adapter)
Sierra 10.12.6
SIP disabled
EDIT:
Fixed it by creating a new "Location" under the Network Settings. Suddenly the ability to toggle Wifi and select a network was restored. However, the "Automatic" default location is broken and would still like to get that fixed.
EDIT 2:
Discovered that I could simply select "make active" under the gear icon. Wondering why this broke in the first place.
Wifi menu has an "x" says:
