Have you tried these steps? yes

Is there already an open topic for this issue? Could not find one

Please include the following information.

Your Issue: Had CAT working in 10.10.5 not problem, I updated to 10.12.6 and updated CAT using the latest BETA for Sierra. Following update, could not reboot to full start up. Halfway through boot, it goes to white screen and sits there.

Steps done to try to fix the issue: Tried to reboot using safe mode but still get white screen. Rebuilt HD using a clone of Sierra drive without CAT and disabled SIP, tried reinstall the BETA but same. tried reinstalling multiple times same results. finally recloned and am not using CAT. During installation the backup of the kexts failed. It was listed in the installation text in the tool during installation. screen shot 2018-07-07 at 8 31 19 am

I think you're out of luck using the dongle. I had the exact same setup as you... Mac Pro 5,1 from 2012 running Sierra and the USB dongle. Had the same issues.

I ended up upgrading the internal wireless card and it even worked for a while without using CAT. Then with the 10.12.6 update, you once again need to use CAT. However, since it thinks continuity is already active, it will not run. You have to force CAT via terminal commands as per instructions on this page:

(Don't forget to use the latest beta version of CAT)
