Used dongle/card: BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX from MacBook Pro 2012
Your Issue: Handover and AirDrop worked fine until connecting a new iPhone by USB and system added new iPhones network adapter. Now: No WiFi hardware detected (greyed out) and only Bluetooth works.
Steps done to try to fix the issue:
saved old networks.plist and created new networks.plist
NVRAM reset and SMC reset
Clean install of High Sierra and C-A-T and everything worked fine again but reproduced the issue with connecting a iPhone.
