Hi there,

Not sure if this could help with development of the Continuity Activation Tool but in Yosemite's first beta, Continuity worked for my iMac (Mid 2011). Perhaps there are others ways that older Macs are able to connect that Apple decided to not use.

Hope this helps. Would love to see continuity work on my iMac.

Hi TyBooyzen, In the current OS X versions the Atheros Wi-Fi drivers don't include the technology required to make Handoff, Instant Hotspot and New Airdrop work (AWDL - Apple Wireless Direct Link). But do you remember which Continuity features were working on your iMac in the first developer previews? Does your iMac have an Atheros based Wi-Fi card? Cheers

Hi David,

My iMac does have an Atheros Wi-Fi driver (Firmware: Atheros 9380: 4.0.74.0-P2P). I can’t remember if Airdrop worked in the Developed Preview but I distinctly remember Handoff and Instant Hotspot working seamlessly!

Ty, BT4.0 and AWDL are required by design to have Continuity features like Handoff, New Airdrop and Instant Hotspot work (source: report from Apple's engineering team, Apple's support KB). Stock 2011 iMacs don't support these two features so chances are very low that we can find a solution. Please let me know if you can reproduce this on a working Developer Preview 1 environment or provide links to a proof. I'll re-open this suggestion in that case. Cheers
