2 years ago No, it's definitely not expected to run on Windows XP. You might find that one of the earlier 7.0 releases will work after a fashion, but that would be more due to luck than anything else.

2 years ago So I found an executable that will work on my XP but it is release 6.0 and is asking for a community edition license key. I hit the button to try to get a key but nothing came back (granted I know there are newer releases that maybe that not required). Any idea how I can get a key for rel 6.0 as I just want to experience this environment and currently only have the older winXP to try it on.

2 years ago Did you try this https://github.com/dolphinsmalltalk/Dolphin/releases/tag/v7.0.57.2 version? I think it might work as it is the last based on visual c ++ 2015. The object arts site is down and I suppose that's why you don't get the serial.

2 years ago I had tried a few of the 7.* versions and struck out. Thank you for the hint I will give it a try!

2 years ago That one is a no go too. The setup runs and it can be installed, but when you want to run the app it says it is not a 32 bit command

2 years ago I punted on my windows XP and bit the bullet for Win7 64bit. That worked with the latest dolphin version. This is now closed.
I see that this was supposed to run on Windows XP so I pulled it down and ran the exe. It came up with an error saying that it wasn’t a 32bit command to be able to run. Should this be able to be run on this old OS? Or, is there some patch release for XP that this will requires. If this is a 64 bit program is it possible to get a release that is 32 bit? I saw something about rel 5.1 or some where around there. If that would work then is it possible to get that release?
I am trying to get my skills back up with Smalltalk and want to practice so the latest isn’t necessary at the moment.
