By tracking the revision of each table within dolt, this allows us to:

Export the entire revision history of a table to Dolt, instead of just a single ancestor commit
Export only the revisions that have changed since the last export
Export all tables that have been modified in source control (and only tables that have been modified)

This data would probably be stored in a single meta-table, which could potentially store other information about imported tables.
