Connected Intel® I211-AT (ASUS PRIME X-570 PRO) has no internet #14

Open gentcys opened 2 years ago

gentcys commented 2 years ago

Intel® I211-AT works well with SmallTreeIntel82576.kext on Big Sur. It doesn't have internet though it can connect to router normally and is assigned a IP on Monterey.

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME X-570 PRO OS: Monterey

@donatengit What logs or something should I provide?

donatengit commented 2 years ago

Hey @gentcys Thanks for testing.

It doesn't have internet though it can connect to router normally and is assigned a IP on Monterey.

Do you mean this AppleIGB driver has connection issues? Or SmallTree?

Could you please elaborate on what is meant by normal connection to your router? Does it ping OK all the time and/or you could browse router's Web Admin UI (or similar) without any issues?

Regarding logs, could you please gather logs from sudo dmesg | grep -i igb with special debug version DEBUG_FUNC of the driver? Especially around moment when connection drops? Thanks in advance

donatengit commented 2 years ago

hey @gentcys Unlikely it will help, but please try this version as well. Thanks in advance

you can try to update your os to newset Monterery or Ventura and remove any kext of i211at.my hackintosh works very well.

gentcys commented 1 year ago

Hi @donatengit I don't have an chance to print log for now cause I re-install Ubuntu on my machine.

what I mean is I can't access the web by ping or browser with AppleIGB driver though the connection status on macOS system setting panel is green.

Different motherboard for me (ASUS CROSSHAIR FORMULA VIII X570) but same chips as far as I know. AppleIGB.kext(the preview one for on the release page) is used on Ventura (upgraded from Big Sur, tho created a new EFI before I did so, latest everything as of 2nd Nov 2022)

Same issue, green tick in connectivity, it has IP address but no traffic going through it. If I then make it inactive then activate it, it will then work for a while (couple of minutes). Tried different speeds, IP configurations but still same.

Seems to be getting full line speed and working ok when it does work.

Anything you need me to provide to help?

emanuelbalea commented 1 year ago

That seems to have worked so far. Will let you know how it goes. However the speed isn't quite the full line speed. seems to max out around 700-800 vs the usual 950 or so. Will test more later but I got to head out in a min.

Thanks so much for the help so far :)

@Lorys89 that seems to be stable for me and performing as expected. Is it possible to get that added to the releases?

I've already requested details, I would be happy to put a link to a repository with this version of driver everywhere and a HUGE note in the readme that my fork is deprecated and there is a better approach in the implementation :) dobby

Hi @donatengit and thanks for your work,

before releasing i would try to fix a problem with i210, i hope to succeed as soon as possible

gentcys commented 1 year ago

@donatengit Did you update readme and put that link on it?

donatengit commented 1 year ago

Hey @gentcys

@donatengit Did you update readme and put that link on it?

To be honest, I'm not fan of giving links to binaries without correspondent source code. Assuming users can get those links from discussions around specific MB and forums.

As soon as @mbarbierato publish his version somewhere on github or other source control hub I'll deprecate my fork, adjust readme/description, remove ability to initiate discussions/issues and put all links to his amazing work

spec cpu:ryzen9 5950x m/b:asrock x570 taichi nvme m.2 : samsung 980 pro 2TB , spcc nvme m.2 2TB

Hello

I used it well on my hackintosh macos 13 and Micron crucial MX500 500GB SSD.

After migrating SSD from MX500 to SPCC NVMe M.2

The network does not work when booting intermittently.

It's not always not working

I go into the system setup, disable Ethernet, and then activate it again, and it works normally.

I ask for a solution please

Hi @han1134,

Do you use a driver from this repository or from the forum link above? If latter please post your issues there since this repository is deprecated having better alternative for x570

mbarbierato commented 1 year ago

This is the same kext posted on the forum if you want to try

AppleIGB.kext.zip

han1134 commented 1 year ago

@donatengit

Thank you. I will test it with the kext below first

I am on Ventura 13.5, how is your ethernet and what are your PC specs. My I211-AT drops connection very frequently. I have AppleIGB kext. the board is MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon. Can you guide me ?
