start up siphon on incoming cellular call #206

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Running siphon, and maintaining a SIP registration constantly in the
background uses too much power, leading to bad battery life. A solution
would be to use a SIP server to forward calls to your cell number. siphon
would automatically start up WiFi when a cellular call came in, register
with the SIP server, and could pick up the SIP call.

The best solution is Apple Push Notification.
If you type in safari : sip://number@server it should be work. So I imagine if
you
receive an email with url, you should be able to click on, and iPhone OS should
run
Siphon.

Yea, push notifications would be a good solution, but will you be able to
answer an
incoming call after you receive a push notification and click, for example,
"answer"
on it? I guess it will be possible only if you have both mobile and SIP number
ringing at the same time, for example using Google Voice. Then maybe if you
launch
Siphon very quick, it will connect, and will pick up the call.

It would be possible, but in this case you will need to give me your username
and
pwd. Like that my server will connect to your sip provider and when you receive
call,
my server will push notification on your iphone.
For privacy reason, I don't prefer to build this kind of server.

But this is only for an incoming SIP call not for a mobile call, right? And we
would
need to start Siphon very quickly. Also, is it possible to receive a call on a
SIP
client right after launch if it logins to the server when there is alreay an
incoming call "ringing" there?
