Problem with using Magicjack SIP account with Siphon #245

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

There are many people that have Magicjack & using Their Magicjack SIP
account in iPhone 3G with Siphon software.
as Magicjack company provide an upgrade for MJ, after the upgrading Siphon
software can't work with it & show this massage: "Maximum number of stale
retries exceeded" that means Server reject the account information
provided by siphone.
I think the Siphon software need a little upgrade,to fix this problem,
because The magicjack USB device that has not updated, has same issue, but
after update work fine.

I got it to work. Finally! using MJMD5. You have to set up a proxy on your pc.
Siphon
will connect to this proxy by connecting to your PC through your router. The
downside, your pc has to be on 24/7 for it to work.

1. Get MJMD5 from here www.mediafire.com/?mmmt4wcnqyb

2. unzip the contents to a main directory preferebly C:\MJProxy

3. Launch the MJMD5.exe and enter the information you got from the dumps
previously

When the mjmd5 app loads please use the following settings: Set the listen and
forward ports to '5070', proxy : proxy01.xxxxxx.talk4free.com, and password
will be
your mj passwd. Check save settings and click Start.

4. Now your proxy server is up. You can minimize mjmd5 to the taskbar and it
will run
in the background. There will be an icon on the task menu to reopen it.

5. Now open siphon settings and change the server address to your computer's IP
address(like 192.168.5.1).

6. Go to Advanced settings and set the proxy server to the same IP address but
add
':5070' at the end. It should look something like '192.168.5.1:5070'

All other settings should be the same as before. Launch siphon and test the
connection. Mine works perfectly.

Dear morbicious,

Your method works perfectly, but when ever a call is made it leaves a message
saying
"You have reached Wimax communications test number , this call is successful."
and it
never connects to the destination number ? any solutions ?

my setup is iphone 3gs - jailbroken with siphon works fine but only for 24
hours!

the problem:

since there is no field of entering the user-agent info in siphon, the MJ guys
keep
resetting my password every 24 hours so i need to do a dump and find it again..

can you add the user-agent field so we can enter it..

Just installed 2.2.1 Alpha 1 for Magic Jack and turned Magic Jack switch on...

Still no luck. Maximum number of stale entries exceeded.

Fix in Siphon 2.2.1 alpha 2

I am having a similar problem. I can not have iSip on my Iphone 3G (I upgraded
it to
os 3.1.3) Jailbroken and Unlocked (had jailbroken and unlocked myself)work with
a
new magicjack I brought end of January. I got all the 3 credential info
properly
(username, password and proxy). I am very sure the credentials are correct.

Interestingly, the SIP credentials in my magicjack I brought in June of 2008
work
very well in the same iSip with the same settings (except the SIP credetials,
of
course) in my iPhone 3G mentioned above. I have the SIP credentials of my old
magicjack installed in my iPhone 2G jailbroken and unlocked (and os upgraded).

Just to test, I put the credentials of my new magicjack in the my 2G iPhone but
it
did not work either. I tried it in fring in both 3G and 2G, no luck at all but
the
credentials of my old magicjack work very well the fring in 3G and 2G.

I really do not know what's happening. Any help? Any idea? Thanks.

I don't know much about the root cause of this. But I tried morbicious'
comment and
have the SIP on my 3G working with MJMD5 running on my XP. Here is what I did:

1) Have MJMD5 running on my XP.
2) Set my 3G SIP's Proxy Server: my_XP_IP:5070, ex: 10.0.0.8:5070
3) Launching SIP on 3G. Sometimes I had to Stop and START MJMD5 again after
launching SIP on my 3G to get the SIP status get connected.

This is not good because requiring MJMD5 running on a computer.

If I kept Proxy Server settings to be the old way, I got error when using SIP.

Hope this can help.

I upload Siphon 2.2.1 alpha 2 on http://code.google.com/p/siphon/downloads/list
With this version you don't need mjproxy.

I have been using 2.2.1 alpha 2 on magic jack for a couple weeks. Bought
another new
magicjack and a year of service, so far it is working well. I hope to go "data
only"
in a couple months.

great work Samuel.

Hi Samuel
Could you please give more directions as how to install this version?

1. Downloaded last version of Siphon to tmp directory

2. Ran console with dpkg -i Siphon-2.2.2a1.deb with result in terminal
dpkg -i Siphon-2.2.1a2.deb
(Reading database ... 2273 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace com.googlecode.siphon 2.2.1 (using Siphon-2.2.1a2.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement com.googlecode.siphon ...
Setting up com.googlecode.siphon (2.2.1) ...

3. Then, I changed to Applications\Siphon.app ran apt-get -y -f install and got
error
Command'pwd' failed with return
127 and error message -sh: line 310: apt-get: command not found

Thank you,
Gena

OK, I have an interesting perspective on the WiMax test number scenario... I
had the
SAME problem when I selected a user (my home number) from my contact list.
Now, I'm
quite anal-retentive on numbers in my phone, and hence, my number for the house
on my
contact is +1-xxx-xxx-xxxx. I too got the WiMax test number. I pondered if
there
was something strange about it being a contact vs. typed digits. So, I dialed
home
xxx-xxx-xxxx. it RANG. HMMM, ponders Tony... what's different? A HAAAAAA!
the
+1/country-code. Siphon is clearly passing the "+1" directly MagicJack and MJ
is
barfing on it... I tested it with several other numbers and found similar
results.
So, it strikes me that when the MJ switch is set in
Settings-->Siphon-->AdvancedSettings-->MagicJack, that Siphon should strip the
"+1"
or at least the "+" and if it is a diff country code, substitute the "+CC" with
"011CC"....

I have followed the updates here, and have gotten everything to work, except
one thing. Everytime I call my mj number with any other phone, I get a message
stating the person is not available. It will not ring siphon.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
