+1 and generally interested in what the Auckland meetup could do better
@tuttinator do you have any questions you'd like asked?
A few I can think of:
Ta. Updated.
Tentative recording time for this episode: http://permatime.com/Pacific/Auckland/2013-11-29/11:00
Can you all please confirm your availability for this date?
I've got a meeting that conflicts with. can do from 11:30. Also how long do these normally go for?
It's usually around 90 minutes including the pre and post call banter.
sorry. accidentally clicked "close and comment" grr!
Tis Thanksgiving over in the states. I'm gonna bow out of this one to eat much food! :chicken:
Enjoy!
Okay, cool. Who else is going to be present? @parndt @awagener @hmaddocks ?
I'll be around!
I'll be here
Do we want to sub someone in to replace @halorgium?
This one seems right up the alley of @pat
As a panelist or as a guest?
take your pick :)
My concern is that if the focus is (rightly) on @terrcin, I may get in the way... I can be overly opinionated at times. But given you're often comparing against Australia, I guess I could be the voice from that side of the Tasman?
Sounds good. Let's put you down as a panelist. This means you ask questions, instead of answering them FYI :)
Feck, that means I'm gonna have to be prepared now.
Did we finalise the time?
Maybe I'll ask questions and then answer them. I think the label is 'politician' ;)
11:30 NZ / 09:30 AEDT next Friday works for me.
11:30/9:30 works for me. Everyone else?
So to be clear that's 11:30 NZ time that @pat is suggesting, on the 29th November?
yup to 11:30 on the 29th.
I'll be around, in Germany. 11.30 works, would 11 or 10.30 be possible? (Germany is 12 hours behind NZ time).
Given it's for 90 minutes I can't start earlier than that, unless you guys want to start at 8:30am NZST. That makes it hard from Aussy then though...
Well, it's normally an hour (11.30 - 12.30) plus a short while before and a variable length after, I believe? But 11.30 is workable - I can just sleep in the next day. We're staying with a friend, so I won't be in a hotel room and I'll have a separate room I can call in from. 11.30 probably works better than 8.30 for me anyway - I can be social with our hosts and then record later.
I usually say 90 minutes because we need to do about 15 minutes of banter at each end :)
No, you hang up!
the pre-call is kind of necessary in order to make sure that everyone's audio quality is good, and that they're warmed up, etc. I agree the post-call is usually just monkeying around.
I was just trying to figure out if the 15 min before is at 11.30 or 11.15 - I was assuming 11.15 for 11.30 recording?
Yeah, so 11:15 for 11:30 start.
Unfortunately I'm not available until 11:30.
Well, we probably only need around 5 minutes of pre-call. Just gives us time to make sure that everything works okay. Let's just all get on the call at 11:30 and start at around 11:40?
Works for me (in for a penny, in for a pound, right?)
That's the spirit!
In my calendar :)
G+ event posted. Note that I need @pat to DM me his G+ account address before the show starts, so that I can invite him to the Hangout.

Same as my email address - pat@freelancing-gods.com
The invitation was for 11:45, I thought we were starting at 11:30? I have a fairly tight schedule on Friday.
@parndt see: https://github.com/dopodcast/dopodcast.github.io/issues/9#issuecomment-28834963 @pat thanks.
Sorry guys, I'm going to have to bow out for the day. Turns out there's construction at the house here, and the internet is hotspotted off an iPad - on edge! So I don't fancy my chances on an audio call. Sorry. I was really looking forward to this one too! Have a great recording.
We might listen to this from the Turkey table. :chicken:
I've asked @ootoovak if he can cover for you Amanda. We'll see.
Thanks for letting us know.
Just because it wasn't discussed this morning and may be of interest: Yehuda visited Melbourne/Sydney as a guest of Ninefold (I'm pretty sure they paid for flights and hotels), not because he wanted to come and check out the local Ruby/JS scenes. I wouldn't treat it as much of a benchmark.
Editing is taking a long time. Mainly because I'm really quite sick. Hopefully finished in the next couple of days.
Sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon. :(
Yeah, get better soon!
Talk with @terrcin about organising wellrailed, the Wellington monthly Rails meetup, and what goes into organising a rails camp?
Panel: @jamesotron @parndt @hmaddocks @pat @ootoovak. Guest: @terrcin
