cannot boot from USB patcher #111

Good day,

As of today, I downloaded latest Catalina Patcher and executed APFS Boot ROM+reboot Have Mac Pro 2009 flashed to 5.1 and Mojave 10.14.6 and Radeon RX 580

Trying to boot from single partition formatted USB (Mac OS Plus journalled+GUID) with Catalina Patcher: Option key doesn't do anything when booting. Rebooting with cmd+R, then selecting to boot from CatalinaPatcher USB; or selecting it from Preferences menu doesn't boot CatalinaPatcher or standard Catalina installer. It boots from Macintosh HD as usual.

How can I manage to boot from USB? any other methods? Thanks

I have the same issue - apple logo and empty loading bar when trying to boot.

Edit: I had popped a brand new, unformatted SSD into my mac mini. Formatting that to Journaled with recovery (from my old installation hard drive, I used an external enclosure) and restarting to boot into the USB fixed this issue.

I have the same issue. When the system reboot it enter in recover mode. MacAir mid 2011 running Mojave. Tried two times. Formatted my PenDrive with Extended (Journaled)

I find the solution. When it enter in recovery mode, continue, enter the admin user than the patcher will open. Then install Catalina. It will open the patchers after you continue in recovery mode. It's trick but I could install Catalina today.

Since there was no way with USB drive I used the 1st option: install directly on Macintosh HD (without USB drive) and it worked

Guys, I've figured out that in my case installer "freezes" at

PCI Configuration Begin

Got it to boot in verbose mode. It freezes (as in won't continue) right after that.

Maybe add some PCI debugging using the pci= flags. https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/323540-thunderbolt-drivers/?do=findComment&comment=2539294

Mac Mini 5,1 I have tried everything I can think of and can't get this USB installer to boot. I get a progress bar that hangs at the end. Multiple reboots don't help, different USB 2 or 3 drives, tried from a dosdude mojave install to. upgrade both ways.... nothing. This installer simply doesn't work. And I can't enter recovery mode as there is no operating system installed yet. I put an SSD in and formatted it extended journaled or APFS. Tried both to no avail.

I think I finally traced my issue back to a corrupt download of Catalina. Funny though because i used this same file to upgrade 3 other machines. Did a fresh download from Dosdude patcher and this time the install went smoothly.
