Did you get any solution? I have the same problem.
I have the same issue,MacBook Air 2011.
I left the loading system for an entire night, but nothing happened. After that, I started in single user mode (command + S
) and typed the following command: reboot recovery os
After that, he restarted and I was able to complete the installation.
Just installed MOJAVE and it boots fine with the Mojave patcher, will try and update to Catalina now.
The issue fixed it self after replacing my ssd and reinstalling, managed to install Mojave and Catalina. Work without issues.
The way I got this to work on my 2011 macbook air was to create the installer from a monteray OS. In my case, a VMware instance. No matter what I did from my macbook air when it was running sierra or high sierra, it would just hang on the boot. I tried usb drives and 3 external disks. Soon as I did all of the steps from Monty, it worked fine. Hope it helps.
My mac is stuck , when it installs it doesn't finish the whole installation and it reboots
