Typing issue while using APFS #141

When I installed Catalina to a HFS+ partition, it all seemed to be well at first. But when I performed a reboot for the patch update, I found that the partition was turned into an APFS one, and my Chinese typing method started to stop working. I can never type in a row: When I typed for one piece of characters, the Chinese typing session died and I can only keep typing in English. It was perfect in Mojave because I can still use HFS+, but with APFS it's not working properly. Volumes controlling wasn't working either until I re-installed it. Please solve the problem, thanks!

You change the OS from Mojave to Catalina, and the file system from HFS+ to APFS, and somehow conclude that the change in file system is the reason that you can't use the Chinese typing method. That's some interesting logic. Did you not consider that the problem is in Catalina?

I don't remember if someone found a fix. The solution may be to use a third party input system. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-10-15-catalina-on-unsupported-macs.2183772/post-28384459 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251905743

i got the same problem after apply the patcher the Chinese input is the same as @haikuotiankong114514 what he said i try a clear install Catalina (APFS) with patcher via USB -> same issues install Mojave first then upgrade to Catalina using patcher -> same issues so it is relative to the patcher? or our old machine really can't handle Catalina ?

PS: the typing is normal in Mojave

Well, thanks to @joevt, I found that Mojave works all well. Maybe there’re something wrong with Catalina. I didn’t try, but you can try the third-party input instead of that built in Catalina.
