Only one boot disk but has to be selected manually after each (re)boot. #165

I used the latest Catalina patcher to install Catalina from an external SSD to my 2011 27" iMac. (GTX 780M installed with flashed firmware). Al works fine minus the following. After each re-boot the iMac doesn't boot (black screen). When I boot using the Alt key I get the boot options where it shows my only internal bootable drive. If I manually select it the system boots. Selecting the drive as boot drive in preference after booting up the system doesn't make a difference.

The systems shows 3 partitions. 1= Catalina (Only 737kB APFS Volume) 2= iMac (11,11 GB APFS) as boot drive 3= iMac - Data (326,32 GB APFS) home drive

I also have the same problem. First I erased the external usb using disk utility (macOS Extended (Journaled)). All this process took me 3 hours :( After restarting and pressing option key, I see only my internal hard drive. The other usb is not shown.

My system is: MacBook6,1 (13 inch, late 2009). I've upgraded the memory to 4GB , each a 1067 MHz DDR3 memory module. Also upgraded the hard disk to WD SSD 500 GB.

Please support.

I have a similar issue. Every time my MacBook starts I have to select the only drive in the system. Even if I hold down Option and select it when the spin appears when I restart it the boot drive picker shows up again.

same issue here, it will only boot from the option key - startup manager. manually select volume, and it starts up fine. if i let it go to sleep it will not wake up, have to hard stop it and restart it again the same way. a normal restart or startup, it just sits in black after the chime. i thought maybe it was trying to boot from the superdrive, so i took that out, but it didnt change anything.
