Non-profit/entity to manage the TLD #2

Individuals are not allowed to apply for a gTLD. It seems to me like a non-profit should be created to manage the TLD.

Some questions:

This is not my area of expertise so I'll be inclined to hear some more lawyerly folks on this.

How about also asking an established organization (Mozilla, etc) for backing?

I know @ozten had connections at Mozilla; do you think they would be interested? Who could we contact about this?

Mozilla might help us, who knows, but it of course could also be a different organization.

I'm also thinking that maybe some web-related companies who do contribute to open source could help us. I'm at the moment thinking of something like Google (they'd have influence) or Atomattic (WP.com)?

Could try contacting them. Does anyone have any contacts at those places that could help, or should we send a hearty email to them ourselves asking if they're interested?

There was a lot of passion around .js at high levels, but when we considered alternatives, it deflated a bit. I'll bring up the topic again.

@ozten Any news? It's obviously a long-term project until the gTLD applications re-open. Is there someone we should be in contact with?
