Based on latest activity in https://stackoverflow.com/a/64151057/1720476 and @mjanderson09 comment, worth to update and review the runes project!

@bluelovers seems to have done some work, creating runes2 https://github.com/bluelovers/runes Although, runes still has around 11K downloads on npm.org every week.
