This commit should allow the library to be used with null_safety. A dependency to build_runner needed to be updated to the null_safe version.

Not that I know of, I was hoping my approval might pop-up in some one's email that can actually merge the code.

I'd love to! but I'm not a maintainer and do not have the ability to merge PRs here. sorry!
