Description

In #193 we requested a domain name alongside our VM request to host Silk.NET services on at a user-accessible address. This wasn't actioned, but we never chased it up because we're very keen not to overburden the .NET Foundation with a large quantity of requests, and the VM was the most urgent work item at that time. However, the domain name has come up a couple of times in recent months in conversation, such that we believe now is the right time to request it.

This issue is just to create the domain silknet.dev in our Azure Resource Group - I don't have permission to do this. It should also be ensured that the necessary permissions are granted to change things like the DNS settings etc on the domain after it's added.

Domains are cheap, I could easily get this myself, but it is project policy for all resources to be in the name of the .NET Foundation and not any individual maintainer (primarily because Silk.NET's predecessor suffered heavily from AWOL maintainers and lost access to project resources as a result of this, we don't want to repeat that which is the main reason we're a member of the .NET Foundation).

The board has previously approved Silk.NET's Azure resources and it is intended that this falls under this same approval.

Not urgent, but also should just be a quick thing

silk.dev is already taken.

I'll email Chris Sfanos with the selected domain just in case of internet crawling.

They want a App Service Domain and also a associated Azure DNS.
