2 years ago @wfurt I had already investigated the issue on https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/13027, but no luck. The docker-in-docker on devcontainer gets 64 GB of RAM on my host machine. I convert the application to .NET 6 and run on the same environment, then it worked. So I think some are optimized on .NET 7 caused this issue.

2 years ago The same issue happened to .NET 7 RC1, just released.
I suspect that openssl v3 caused this issue because when I have a look at the logs, I can see something related to the signature of dlls. See below

2 years ago I don't think OpenSSL as at pay at this time. e.g. it iOS loaded after runtime start if needed. cc: @vitek-karas @janvorli for more insight.

2 years ago I have the same issue, I have a simple generated API project with /WeatherForecast.
When I run docker container with a memory limit of lower than 512m on dotnet7.rc1, I got Failed to create CoreCLR, HRESULT: 0x8007000E error.
When I use dotnet6, I can run the container with a minimum of 10m

2 years ago we have looked into this and does appear to be an issue with unbounded CPUs. Keeping the cores (specifically # of heaps) for server GC limited is the preferred way for smaller containers. Thx.

2 years ago the main issue is that with an unbounded CPU config, the GC creates as many Heaps as there are cores. So for low memory situations some checks to ensure that each heap has enough space for the various generations is now failing (in .NET 7 with regions enabled this situation has exaggerated -- we are looking into how best to get it close to .NET 6).
cpu-shares doesnt actually constraint how many cpu cores the container actually gets. If you need to use cpu-shares, you could explicitly configure the number of heaps to something smaller using the config documented here: https://github.com/dotnet/designs/blob/main/accepted/2019/support-for-memory-limits.md#gc-heap-count

I am trying to fix the issue where containers with memory limits but unbound cpu is failing for ~<512mb of memory. I am trying to fix the issue where containers with memory limits but unbound cpu is failing for ~<512mb of memory. We should rename the issue for clarity (or create a separate one so the original issue can be looked into). Thx
Yes, I think that is related to the memory limits but unbound cpu is failing for ~<512mb of memory issue. I have seen you fixed this, but wonder when it will be released in .NET 7 so that I can grab the fixed version to help it run again to make sure it is fixed with low memory as I mentioned above at the beginning of this issue.
Will it be released immediately after https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/pull/76588 is merged?

2 years ago Ok updated the title, hoping to have the fix available in .NET 7 GA release. For now you can perhaps workaround by setting a reasonable cpu limit.

I used
devcontaineronvscodeto create theUbuntu 20.4withdocker in dockerapproach. I packaged the .NET 7 Preview 7 application into the docker container. When I run its image inside devcontainer, then it keeps silent. Then I put the variablesCOREHOST_TRACE = 1. Then I see a lot of exceptions there. See belowI expect it can run normally, because when I created the Azure VM (Ubuntu 20.4 distro), no problems with this Docker image. It can run on Azure VM (Ubuntu 20.4) normally.

I just wonder that, is it caused this exception because of the different of OS distro on two boxes? Any one can help me to solve this issue?
