Import of nick@bugraglio.com's code from Google Code. Been using this in-house for approximately a year with subversion backend.

Very happy to merge this if you want me to, but this would be far better upstream. I'm trying to dissuade people from too heavily depending on this repo as I just don't have time to maintain it anymore.
