Fixes building #15

Also adds .gitignore to prevent build stuff from being added to the repo.

Gladly accepted! This project has been abandoned for a while, but let me know if you want to be added to the DDL slack to discuss future changes. Thanks for contributing!

I only use Slack for work, I'll just modify it to my liking and send pull requests every now and again so you can merge the stuff you want to keep.
