Perhaps it would be possible to move the shared code for each micro service to a small package that can be used by every microservice. This removes the duplicate code from the repo and allows easier changes that need to happen for #4 and #5.

I agree, however the builds might have to be modified to include the folder with common code. IMO a low-hanging fruit.
