Choosing area for download is overall confusing #17

Issue

Choosing an offline area to download is confusing. Should it download the area within the bounding box or the area you see on the screen?

Is the bounding box just to show how much area you CAN download?

Expected Behavior

I would expect the area within the bounding box to be downloaded. But if you are viewing higher levels (Streets) and want to download only the Esri campus, then we don't see the bounding box because it is shown at a much smaller scale.

I would prefer the outline of the bounding box to always be shown, and as I zoom out, still have that same behavior where the box will stop if it's working with a very large scale (i.e. Room)

Map and Credentials

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Click three dots next to map >Download Offline area
  2. Select different small scale areas and notice how the whole bounding box cannot be seen when zooming in far.

@sbubka94 The map you mentioned in the issue doesn't seem to have been shared with Collector4ArcGIS account. Could you please invite this account to the group that your test map belongs? Thank you.

@li2504 Do you mind double checking? I am seeing you as a member of that group + my map is in there.

@li2504 Apologies! The map is called CollectorMap2_4_5

+1 on this item

The user experience to specify an offline area is a little confusing. In the 'Add Offline Area' window, for the level of detail options: it defaulted to 'street' - when I click it, I see other options for other levels of detail. What is the difference between 'small building' vs. 'building'?; 'building' vs. 'buildings'? or 'street' vs. 'streets'?

And when I choose 'cities' (e.g., I want a lower scale, so larger spatial extent) - is the map display supposed to 'zoom out' because I have changed the scale of the spatial extent? or do I still have to manually (via the map display) define a larger spatial extent?

Also: is there a help topic that explains this workflow in detail? I was unable to find mention of the different levels of detail, I did find: http://docdev.arcgis.com/en/collector/windows/collect-data/offline-use.htm

Help doc for Aurora is not available yet. The doc on docdev is for the currently released version of Collector.

Apologies for the huge image size
