Favorites Activity Customization #9

Hey,

So I was thinking about how to make the favorites better.

Right now the favorites page shows the route/direction/stop (RDS).

If the RDS is not active and the preference for "show only active routes" is checked, currently the favorited RDS shows up as gray. I'm not too happy with it, maybe it would be better to just not show it? (in the screenshot below, the middle one is faded)

The other Favorites functionality I think might be useful is grouping/ordering the stops or even letting the user re-order the stops themselves. I'm thinking about something like an "edit" mode, so then the user can tap and hold to drag, or swipe to delete? Kind of like what I see on some iPhone apps, but I can't find any examples of it right now.

Updated Favorites Activity.

Still not sure if the inactive routes should be moved to the bottom?

I like it! I think we should keep your fade out idea as well--removing it from the list could create confusion for the user.

Check it out.

And then...

The icons are a bit fat, I might work on making them a bit skinny.

I like Favorites icon at the top, but I'm not totally sold on the "Favorite" and "Unfavorite" icons. I feel like they're a little too lively for the current feel of the app. That said, I haven't gotten to play with them in the emulator yet so I'm not totally sure.

Go ahead and send a pull request!

Did a PR, original PSD is here.

May we can mess with the colors to make it less lively.

dougblack commented 11 years ago

Good. I like that more than the previous.

As I'm sure you've noticed, the overall UI design thus-far has been almost exclusively "flat". Mostly due to my initial lack of design skill, pretty much everything is simply solid bold colors with no gradients. So, when I said "too lively" I meant the gradient made them stand out too much against the rest of the predominately flat UI. But, I like the gold star much more than the previous blue star. Expanding on the preceding design choices, I feel like the overlaid + and - icons on the above favorites star don't quite fit either. Maybe keep the un-favorited icon a solid gray and the favorited icon a solid gold?

But, let me know what you think!

So the previous PSD has the layers for the plus/minus signs.

I played around with it for a minute and got this. Maybe this is something that fits more with the app feel?

black-white-favorite-add

I guess I'm concerned two yellow stars (one to enter favorites and one to add/remove favorites) on one page might be confusing, but I mess around with it in the morning and check with a few people to get some feedback.

I think the icon works, but it might overlap with long stop names. e.g. Screen Shot 2013-03-11 at 4 50 47 PM
