TWRP returns error 255 #11

Whenever I run the app or manually flash the zip in TWRP, it just returns " Updater ended with ERROR: 255 Error installing zip file '/sdcard/checkra1n_arm64.zip' "

running TWRP 3.6.2_9-0 on a Xiaomi Pocophone F1 running lineage os 18.1 (android 11) same error when trying to install from external sd and regardless of whether the data partition is mounted

I get this too. I'm running the zip manually from /data folder because my TWRP won't start it on boot.
