Bug fixes for exception cases and merged cells #17

I hope I'm not the first to say this, but this package is very much appreciated! Especially the way it works with John McNamara's package.

I found a few bugs involving merged cells and exception cases. I have a git patch file with fixes based on my limited understanding of your code. Can I send them it to your email address for your review?
