Differentiate Alert/Warning Severity #121

Open dpaulat opened 8 months ago

Instead of simply showing Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm warning box, differentiate using Damage Threat Categories, and provide a different color or patterned box:

Severe Thunderstorm:

Tornado:

Differentiation should also be included in the Alert Dock.

Paracosm of Trollge OP — Today at 10:31 PM Will there be some form of alert variations? For example, if say a PDS TOR or TOR-C get issued, they would have a different colored box compared to the normal tors color. Cuz during outbreak days its rather obnoxious to see which storm got this tag or that, particularly tornado events where half the tors are RI or Confirmed or vice-versa.

This I think is very important. Having to look inside warning text for different classifications isn't ideal. This is one of the main reasons I am running with GR2_A3 currently. I would also love to see the implementation of a different color for Severe T-Storm Warnings with a Tornado Possible tag.

Yes! This issue seems to be gaining a lot of traction. I anticipate working on this in the May timeframe along with some other warning enhancements.

What about having the actual warning lines being dashed? For example, Tor could be purple, Tor PDS could be purple and yellow dashed, Tor emergency could be purple and red dashed. Something like this that I just mocked up. Or they could be outlined. Purple with a yellow border. Just an idea. I'd be interested to hear what other people think.
