WebRequest API support #7

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
It's a feature request.

I just wanted to know if you're working on this new functionality. Of course
it's still in development right now, and you need to force WEbRequest API in
about:flag, but I admit I urgently need this in order to block Object
subrequests from these boring flash videos...

I've already seen a (alpha) version of AB+ which seems to work...

Experimental version of ScriptNo is working smoothly so far, which implements
this (and the current "beforeload" blocking method as a fallback). Doing some
testing when I can and going to upload it here before October!

Damn. Don't know how to install it... I have an error:
package is invalid crx_file_not_readable

Can't seem to be able to install it as well... I get an error saying "package
is invalid: 'crx_magic_number_invalid."

Am I doing something wrong here?

Experimental v1.0.5.44 released (previously I had zipped them and renamed them
to crx, which evidently doesn't work!). Sorry for the troll release!

I still have ads on youtube. I don't see the object subrequests (2mdn.net for
example) in the list of blockable/blocked elements.

Looking at developer tools, I can see nothing is in red (blocked), like it is
when using AB+ for example.
Thanks to AB+ author (Wladimir Palant), I also learned there's no way to
distinguish object and object subrequests for now.

WebRequest is now in stable Chrome, but I will continue working on it and
testing it before uploading it to the Web Store. Making progress!

Can you remove the requirement for experimental apis since it's stable?

Ok I'm a bit comfused, so in order to use the webrequest api I do not need to
use the experimental build? or is it still ex build + about:feature
(experimental enabled) in order to take advantage of this feature? Any input
would help devs.

Thank you

Stay tuned for a new stable release of ScriptNo later today or tomorrow :)

Original comment by andr...@gmail.com on 15 Feb 2012 at 5:32

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
To answer your question, right now you need to enable Experimental APIs in
about:flags in order to use the experimental build.

Thank you :) v1.0.6.0 released. WebRequest and ContentSettings API are now
primarily used in this new version.

Webrequest does not seem to be used. There's nothing in red (blocked) in
Network monitor.

I know that it's supposed to be blocking but is there anyway to tell if it's
working in about:net-internals?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
In the new version 1.0.6.2 it notes that it's using the old blocking method...
Does this mean that the version from the chrome store is no longer using the
webrequest API to block javascript? I would like to know this...

Thanks
