ffmpeg crashes on some unix machines #354

Problem: ffmpeg crashes killing solarEngineering on some unix versions. I couldn't reproduce on Mac OS X 10.10.4 and brew. Screenshot below.

Expected behavior: catch exception. I doubt we can fix this for every encoder version out there.

Todo: implement exception handling for just ffmpeg.
