i think it will be useful if you can define all your pools in config file and check not all of them, but only those which you need.
As example in our Proxmox configuration - pool represents Service (collection of different machines that linked somehow) and should alert to responsible person. So in Nagios we can create a different checks for different Services without duplication config files.
