George, could you please take a look. I tried for an 2 hours to fix this - no 
luck.
The TeX code looks normal.

\author{} following \subsection*{} seems to confuse the parser. Looking into it.

I forced it to work. But since I still don't understand the root cause, I will 
keep the bug open, but will mark it as a 
low priority task.
