On the first install you have to enter some settings.
If you don't set any "address to notify", settings are automatically displayed.
Once you setup your username and your password (and the address to notify if
you use several accounts) the application can start the xmpp service.

it's a fresh install or an update ?
Do you use 1 or 2 accounts ?
Do you have an error message or GTalkSMS doesn't respond to commands ?
In the last case check your "address to notify" because GTalkSMS will only
respond to the messages sent from this address.

When I've create my jabber account for GTalkSMS it takes 2 days before it works
(a jabber.org server side issue)...
Can you test with another GMail account ?

Can you generate a log file to see if it's a GTalkSMS issue ?

I believe it is because the jabber account goes offline after gtalk sends the
message saying its on

@brentDur: If it's a fresh GTalkSMS install going to the settings screen is a
normal step when you didn't configure at least the minimum of the required
settings. Maybe you forgot something?

yes thank you, I went back through all the settings and re-entered them all and
it worked, but for some reason when i send the "?" to my phone it doesn't
respond, if i send "ring" or "reply" commands it works, the help command
doesn't however
